Dental Hygiene - The Facts

Did you know?

''Modern toothpaste has only been available for the past hundred years. Before this invention, humans used charcoal or ground chalk, ashes, lemon juice, and honey-tobacco mixtures to clean their teeth''

A dental hygienist can help if:

  • You have stained teeth
  • You have gum disease
  • You struggle to maintain good dental hygiene
  • You need advice on keeping your teeth and gums healthy

Denta hygiene treatment time-line:

Your dentist can refer you to our dental hygienist if they decide it is necessary. We also have Direct Access hygienists which mean that you don’t need to be referred by a dentist and can book an appointment directly yourself.

Your hygienist will help you to adopt correct techniques to maintain good oral hygiene yourself at home.

Your hygienist will scale and polish your teeth to remove any plaque or tartar above and below the gums, they may also apply fluoride to help prevent tooth decay.

You’ll enjoy the feeling of a cleaner and healthier mouth!
